VAT number validation

Conforming to the regulations set forth by the European Commission, we have incorporated a VAT number validation feature into our tool.

As an online invoicing and software service, Zervant falls under the purview of European legislative exceptions regarding online services. The general principle is that the VAT rate of the country where you purchase the service is applicable. Therefore, as Zervant is based in Finland, our subscriptions are invoiced with a VAT rate of 25,5%.

However, if you possess an intra-community VAT number, which is valid for cross-border transactions within the European Union, the VAT rate will be excluded from your purchase price.

To ensure that your VAT number is indeed valid for cross-border transactions within the EU, please visit the European Commission's website at the following address: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation-result

Upon logging into your Zervant account, when subscribing to a paid subscription, if an error message appears while validating your VAT number, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: First, ensure that there are no typos in the VAT number, make sure you have added the country code preceding the number in uppercase (BE**********), and that the number does not contain any dots or punctuation marks.

Step 2: If the system does not recognize the VAT number despite it being a valid intra-community VAT number according to the European Commission, you will need to click directly on the number and then on the "Save" option that appears below the number.

It may take a few seconds for the system to process the save.

Once this process is completed, the VAT number should appear as valid (the error message should disappear, and a small green symbol should appear to the left of the number).

Step 3: If the procedure described in Step 2 fails, repeat the process several times until the system records the update (which may occur in case of overload on the European Commission servers).

Step 4: If, despite all your attempts, the number remains invalid, we encourage you to contact us directly.
